APPOINTMENT AS ARBITRATOR

For Parties, Counsel and Arbitral Institutions

The International Arbitrator is accepting appointments as sole arbitrator and as a member of an arbitral tribunal, for commercial and investment disputes across sectors and jurisdictions. This page sets out the routes by which parties, legal representatives and arbitral institutions may propose or confirm his appointment.

Routes to Appointment

Harshavardhan Sancheti may be considered for appointment through party nomination, institutional appointment or agreement in ad hoc arbitration proceedings.

Party Appointment

Where the arbitration agreement permits the parties to nominate an arbitrator, Harshavardhan Sancheti may be agreed upon jointly by the parties as sole arbitrator or nominated individually by a party as its nominee arbitrator in a three-member tribunal.

Institutional Appointment

Where the arbitration is administered by an institution including ICC, LCIA, SIAC, ICDR, DIAC, HKIAC, CIETAC or another leading institution, parties or counsel may propose Harshavardhan Sancheti for appointment, subject to the applicable institutional rules and the institution's own appointment and confirmation process.

Ad Hoc Arbitration

For UNCITRAL or other ad hoc proceedings, parties may agree to appoint Harshavardhan Sancheti directly, subject to the terms of the arbitration agreement and the applicable procedural law.

Appointments may be made by parties, their legal representatives or arbitration institutions, depending on the applicable arbitration rules. There is no limitation as to sector, seat or subject matter.

Confirm that the dispute is subject to arbitration and identify the applicable appointment mechanism under the arbitration clause and any institutional rules.

Consider Harshavardhan Sancheti for Appointment

Parties or their counsel may propose him as sole arbitrator or nominate him as a member of the tribunal, subject to the applicable arbitration rules.

Submit an Appointment Enquiry

Provide the arbitration clause, a brief description of the dispute, the names of the parties, the seat, the governing law, the applicable institutional rules and the current procedural status.

Appointment or Confirmation

Subject to the applicable rules, the terms of appointment and any required institutional confirmation, the appointment proceeds.
